Martin PeRue

Richmondville- Martin C. PeRue, 86, of Brooker Hollow Road, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. PeRue was born August 13, 1922 in the Town of Cobleskill, a son of Charles and Blanche (Hoose) PeRue.
He was a lifelong area resident, serving in the United States Army from 1942 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. Mr. PeRue was a member of the Ralph Sperbeck American Legion Post 0249, and served as commander for nine years.
Mr. PeRue retired from SUNY at Cobleskill where he was employed in the maintenance department.
He was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Richmondville. Also, he was a member of the Richmondville Senior Citizens.
Mr. PeRue was predeceased by his daughter, Linda Ann PeRue and a step-son, Larry R. Curtis.
Survivors include his wife, Doris (Thurber) Curtis PeRue, whom he married January 1, 1960; granddaughter, Lori Ann Curtis and her fianc?e, Matt, of St. Louis, Missouri; a grandson, Timothy Martin Curtis of Los Angeles, CA; his faithful pet, Mitsy; several nieces and nephews: Janet (Howard) Morris, Larry (Diane) Mead, Bernard (Vicky) Mead, Nancy (Arthur) Wright; Lee (Beverly) Thurber, James (Mary) Thurber, Carole (Russell) Rigg; and several great-neices and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Main St., Richmondville, NY. Officiating will be Rev. Marvin Batcher and Mr. PeRue's grand-nephew, Rev. Tim Thurber of the Baptist Church in West Oneonta. Family and friends are invited to a perioed of visitation on Sunday from 1 to 2 PM at the church, prior to the service. Burial will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
