Martha Gold

Cobleskill- Martha F. Gold, 93, formerly of Cobleskill, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

Born December 29, 1927, in Albany, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Martha (Wehrstadt) Pape.

Martha served as secretary for many years at the Cobleskill United Methodist Church. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Richmondville. She was also a member of the hospital auxiliary, New Century and Eureka clubs.

On October 7, 1950, Martha married Joseph H. Gold, Jr. and he predeceased her on December 11, 1992.

Surviving her are a son, Joseph H. (Leslie) Gold III of White Plains, NY, and daughter, Martha Slater of Alpine, WY; a sister, Dorothy Winkler of Cobleskill, 4 grandchildren: Robert J. Gold of San Jose, CA, Jamie H. Gold of White Plains, NY, Kristen M. (Stephen G.) Sicilia of Savannah, GA and their daughter, Kaleigh, and Michael (Lynn) Vogel of Alpine, WY and their children: Olivia and Parker.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held Monday, October 11, 2021, from 10AM to 12PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A funeral service will be held immediately following at noon on Monday with Rev. Paul Messner officiating. Burial will follow at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
