Cobleskill- Marlin "Mic" Cooper, 74, of North Grand St., died Friday, August 23, 2013 at his residence.

Born February 14, 1939 in Schoharie, he was a son of Chauncy and Ethel (Diamond) Cooper.

He was a lifelong area resident who retired after several years of employment in the maintenance department at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.

Mic served in the United States Army National Guard from 1956 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1964.

He attended the former Cobleskill Central School and as a young man he was an avid hunter and enjoyed camping. Mic was a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aeries in Cobleskill. He was also known as "Dan Rather" as he "held court" at Stewarts in Cobleskill.

Survivors include his siblings: Wayne (Wanda) Cooper of Cobleskill, Madeline Cooper of Cobleskill, Chet (Mary) Cooper of Pittsford, VT, Yvonne Cooper Blodgett of Cobleskill, George (Debra) Cooper of Howes Cave, Greg (Mary) Cooper of Willseyville, NY; companion: Janice English of Cobleskill; many nieces, nephews, step-children, step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 AM at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will be in Central Bridge Cemetery.
