Cobleskill - Marion A. Bascomb, 83, of Campus Drive, died peacefully Thursday, December 24, 2015 at her residence with her loving family at her side.
Born April 14, 1932 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Fitzgerald) Rickard.
Marion was a lifelong area resident and retired after twenty-nine years of employment at Cobleskill Regional Hospital, where she was the manager of Sterile Processing.
She was the mother to eight children, who she took great pride in raising, and then loving each grandchild and eventually her great-grandchildren as well. She baked and decorated countless birthday cakes as her family grew, created special for each occasion. Reading was also one of her favorite pastimes.
Marion was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold; three sons, Louis, Robert, and Richard; a grandson, Anthony Bascomb, and son-in-law, Darius Benson.
Survivors include five children: Paul (MaryAnn) Bascomb, Michael (Diane Spano) Bascomb, Kathy (Mike) Moore, Connie (Ed) Elsenhohn and Colleen Benson all of Cobleskill; her brother, Gerald (Barbara) Rickard of Amsterdam; twenty grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill, with Father Jeffrey L'Arche as celebrant. A period of visitation will precede the mass from 9:30 to 11:30 AM Tuesday at the church. Burial will be private in Bramanville-Prospect Cemetery, Howes Cave, NY.
