Howes Cave- Marilyn E. Weise, 83, formerly of Howes Cave, N.Y., died Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Palatine Nursing Home.
Marilyn was born April 28,1939, in Flushing, N.Y., the daughter of Henry G. Christ and Mary (Reed) Christ. She was a graduate of Cobleskill High School, class of 1957, and spent most of her life in the Cobleskill area.
Marilyn worked for many years as a supervisor for Rehabilitation Support Services in Cobleskill.
She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church in Central Bridge. Marilyn’s greatest joy came from the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved poetry, gardening, spending time outside; and cooking and entertaining for family and friends.
Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Donald R. Weise, on February 10, 2017, her grandson, Logan Wieland, sisters, Virginia Noxon, Ethel Dilorenzo, and her “brother” Melvin Kincel.
She is survived by her children, Paul (Kym) Wieland, Laura (Paul) Lakata, Melanie (Martin) Wolken, Matthew (Melissa) Weise, and Mary Kay (David) Groesbeck. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Paul, Tiffany, and Collin Wieland; Ashley, Morgan, and Martin Wolken; Andrew and Kent Lakata; Matthew Weise; Eric and Kayla Groesbeck; 3 great-grandchildren: Evan and Daniel Wolken-Cabrera; and Addison Lakata.
Services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family with burial following in Old Stone Fort Cemetery.
