Cobleskill- Marilyn (Joan) Rifenberg Zaccaro Veley, 85, of Woodland Drive, passed away on June 21, 2018 after a fall at her home. She was born June 25, 1932 to the late Viola (Hines) and Harold Rifenberg, in Cohoes, New York.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Rev. Victor Zaccaro and Morris Veley; a brother, Ted Rifenberg; and her son-in-law, Walter Sperry.
Joan worked as a nursing assistant in the Bennington Vermont Veterans’ Home for 20 years before moving to Cobleskill.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lynda Zaccaro Sperry of Binghamton, New York, and Suzanne Zaccaro (Gary) Buhl, of Richmondville, New York; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Stefanie (Luke) Danielsen and their daughters: Eleina, Ellie and Eliza of Cobleskill, Devin (Lui) Buhl of Delmar, Jason (Sarah) Sperry and their children: Zachary and Lola of Niagara Falls, Adam Sperry and his daughter, Dori of Albany, Tim (Andrea) Sperry and their daughters, Izzy and Addie, and Andrew (Eileen) Sperry of Saratoga.
A Celebration of Joan’s life will be held at the Richmondville United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. Her grandson, Rev. Drew Sperry, will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., P.O. Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill.
