Marie Poquette

Howes Cave- Marie D. Poquette, 93, of Myers Road, died Saturday, March 18, 2017 at her residence in the care of her loving family.

Born February 10, 1924 in Madawaska Notre Dame de Lourdes, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of Maxime and Cecile (Michaud) Violette.

Marie was a cafeteria cashier for many years at Southeast Elementary School in Brentwood, Long Island. She and her husband raised their six children in Brentwood and moved to this area in 1985. Throughout her life, Marie cherished her family most of all. Marie was an excellent baker, and she truly enjoyed preparing for family events. She was an avid bowler, belonging to various leagues, Mixed, Women's and the Senior League. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Young at Heart.

Marie was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill.

She married Reginald Poquette on October 3, 1946 and he predeceased her on June 22, 1992.

Survivors include her six children: Gary Poquette of Fulton, MD, Gail A. Proctor (Joseph Perkoski) of Odenton, MD, H. Alan (Josephine) Poquette of Columbia, SC, Lori M. (Terry) McGiver of Warnerville, Eric J. (Diane) Poquette of Schoharie, and Gregory J. (Annie) Poquette of Central Bridge; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and her brother, James Violette of Lowell, MA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill. Celebrant will be Rev. James Donlon. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Burial will be at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery at a later date.
