Marian Schemerhorn

Marian Emily (Ogden) Schemerhorn, 73, of Delanson, NY, passed away November 14, 2006 after a courageous fight with cancer for 9 years.
Marian was born in NY City on April 6, 1933, the daughter of Muriel and George Ogden of NY City.
Marian married the love of her life, Charles Schemerhorn of Gilbo, NY on June 21 1953. They had three daughters and lived in Prattsville, NY for many years. In 2003 they moved to Delanson to be closer to their daughters and families.
Marian worked for the US Postal Service in Prattsville for many years and retired in 1996. She is lovingly remembered for her compassion to travel and scrapbook. Marian enjoyed trips with her family to Grand Canyon, TN, Fl, TX, Bahamas, Myrtle Beach, Ocean City, AK, etc.. Marian is also remembered for her great sense of humor. Marian loved family gatherings and was close to her family. She was a shining example of her favorite saying "if life hands you lemons, make lemonade".
Her parents, George and Muriel Ogden predeceased her.
Marian is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles Schemerhorn; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Donald Martin of Delanson, Joan and George Martin of Delanson, Doreen and David Robertson of Cairo, NY; 8 grandchildren, Donnie Martin and girlfriend, Nicole Berhaupt of Hoboken, NJ, Carl, Sarah, Steven and Michael Martin of Delanson, NY, Timothy and Mikayla Robertson of Cairo, NY; 2 siblings: a brother, George (Eloise) Odgen, Jr., of TX and a sister, Joan Back and companion Frank DeAngelo of Long Island. Marian was also auntie/Mom to Deb and Bill Meuller of Prattsville. Marian is also survived by 8 brothers and/or sisters-in-laws: Warren and Nettie Schemerhorn, Wardy and wife Fred, Otis and Louise Schemerhorn, Marie Tompkins and several nieces and nephews. She was a great aunt to several nieces and nephews and a friend to many.

A funeral service was held on Friday, November 17, 2006 at Palmer & Shaylor, Inc. Funeral Home 134 River St. Middleburgh and burial followed in Gilboa Cemetery.
