Marguerite Earls, 98, of Cliff St., died peacefully, Monday, December 1, 2008 at her home.

Mrs. Earls was born in New York, NY on March 21, 1910 a daughter of the late Hans and Julie (Courvoisier) Meier. She grew up in the hamlet of Franklinton and taught music and Sunday school in both the Franklinton and Middleburgh Methodist Churches. She was a homemaker and helped care for the family's dairy and sheep farm. Mrs. Earls was a member of the Home Bureau, the Franklinton Grange and also the National Grange. Mrs. Earls was an active member of the Valley Bible Baptist Church in Middleburgh.

Mrs. Earls was married to Raymond Earls on November 23, 1933. He predeceased her on December 16, 1980. She was also predeceased by her son, Allen Earls. Mrs. Earls is survived by her daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Horsman of Middleburgh, NY, Julia (Winthrop) Ames of Horseheads, NY, Martha (Gary) Doane of Raleigh, N.C. and granddaughters, Michelle Ames, Joelle Pemberton and Marlea Ward all of Raleigh, NC, grandsons, Allen Ames and Jeffrey Horsman of Raleigh, NC and Cory Heavener of Tecumseh, MI, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 9:30am, Friday, December 5, 2008 at the Valley Bible Baptist Church, State Route 30, Middleburgh, NY. Pastor Shawn Foster will officiate. Burial will follow in the Middleburgh Cemetery. Friends are also invited to call from 6-8pm, Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY. Memorials may be sent to the Middleburgh Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 817, Middleburgh, NY 12122 or to the Valley Bible Baptist Church, 4648 State Route 30, Middleburgh, NY 12122
