Margaret "Peggy" Merwin

Seward- Margaret I. Merwin, 80, of Gardnersville Road, went to her eternal peace on Friday, December 17, 2021, at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.

Born January 3, 1941, in Hobart, she was the daughter of Orville and Anna (Govern) Place.

Peggy graduated from South Hobart School and married her soul mate, Howard F. Merwin, on November 1, 1959.  She assisted him in the daily operations of Merncrest Farm, their family dairy farm.

Peggy enjoyed puzzles, crossword puzzles, tending to the gardens and loved to cook.  She treasured her time spent with family, especially the grandchildren.

Her son, Alan, died at birth on August 16, 1960.

Survivors include her husband, Howard; two daughters:  Karen (Bill) Tucker, Jr. and Wendy (Ernie) Ouellette all of Sharon Springs: 6 grandchildren: Elizabeth Tucker, Thomas(TJ) (Marissa) Hoose, Alicia (Rob) Maniotis, Wesley (Gianna Radice) Tucker, Greg Ouellette and Dan (Kaitlyn Ehlers) Ouellette; and four great-grandchildren: Oliver and Isabella Maniotis and Avery and Declan Hoose.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 6 to 8PM on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY.
