Margaret Wagenen

COBLESKILL: Margaret A. van Wagenen, 95, of Madison Terrace, died on Feb. 13, 2008 at her home following a brief illness.
Miss van Wagenen was born in Lawyersville, NY on Dec. 5, 1912, the daughter of Magdalena (Lamont) and Jared van Wagenen, Jr. She was a 1929 graduate of Cobleskill Central School. She received a Master's degree in Social Work from Boston College and was employed as a social worker at the Woman's Reformatory in Framingham, MA. Miss van Wagenen was an outdoors enthusiast and had hiked several sections of the Appalachian Trail.
She is survived by 2 nieces, Martha (Wil) Ivins of Lawyersville, NY, and Dorothy (Alfred) Harding of Medford, NJ, a nephew, Rev. Jared (Marilyn ) van Wagenen, IV of Lawyersville, NY, and several great- nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Feb. 18, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, St. Christopher's Place, Cobleskill, NY 12043 with The Venerable Dr. Harvey Huth officiating. There will be no calling hours. Spring interment will be in Lawyersville Cemetery.
