Hyndsville- Mrs. Madeline Slavik, 76, of State Route 10, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at her residence.
Born December 10, 1932 in Bay Shore, NY, she was a daughter of George and Mary (Tholl) Ott. Mrs. Slavik just recently moved to this area in 2007 with her husband to live with their daughter and family.
She had resided in Central Islip, and retired as an assistant manager for NYNEX in Hempstead where she was employed for thirty-nine years. Mrs. Slavik was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Her family and her dog, LaVerne, brought her much joy in life.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Anthony Slavik, whom she married November 7, 1954; her children: Michael (Joanne) Slavik of Holtsville, Darlene (David) Slater of Hyndsville, James (Gina) Slavik of Shoreham, Eric Slavik of Florida, and Suzanne (Jerry) Kiesel of Greensboro, NC; two sisters: Mabel Prebish of East Moriches and Edna (Sandy) Notaro of Massapequa; and six grandchildren: Steven Slavik, Jonathan Slavik, Phoenix Sze, Megan Slavik, Louise Hartmann and Raymond Hartmann.
A funeral service will be held at 9:00 AM on Monday, November 30, 2009 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with David Houck of the Hyndsville United Methodist Church officiating. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home on Sun., from 2 to 4 PM. Burial will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
