Cobleskill- Lucy J. Allen, 86, of Grovenors Corner Road, died at her residence after a long illness.
Mrs. Allen was born on June 2, 1920 in Decatur, NY and was the daughter of Levi and Elsa (Clapper) Crandell.
She resided in Schoharie County for 56 years. She worked in the Dairy Department of Grand Union for 10 years but retired from S.U.N.Y. at Cobleskill in November of 1978 after working 7 years in the Maintenance Department.
Mrs. Allen was married to Edmond Allen on December 25, 1938 and he predeceased her on July 18, 1978. She was also predeceased by her son, John H. Allen who died on January 30, 2001.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Rosemarie (Peter) Babcock of Cobleskill, Mary Ann (Robert) Storm of Harpursville, NY, 1 Granddaughter, Lynn (Steven) Green of Sloansville, NY and 2 Great Granddaughters, Stacey and Kelly Green, both of Sloansville, 2 sisters, Frances Turton of Cohoes and Sarah Knapp of Oneonta, and 2 brothers, John Crandell of Wichita, KS, and Kenneth Crandell of Texas.
Services will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cobleskill Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 451, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
Arrangements are by Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home of Cobleskill, NY and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home of Middleburgh, NY.
