Lowell Greene

Cobleskill- Lowell M. Greene, 91, of Early Woodlands, died Friday, December 13, 2019 at Palatine Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Born June 28, 1928 in New Berlin, NY, he was the son of Merle and Ina (Holdridge) Greene.

On November 19, 1945 he married Jean Mayne who predeceased him on June 27, 2019. While living in New Berlin, he was a member of the United Methodist Church.  He and Jean moved to Cobleskill in 1954 where he managed the local shoe store, which they later bought. During his years as a local merchant, he was a member of the Cobleskill Exchange Club, Merchants Bureau, BPOE Lodge 2040 and the Flying Club, as well as a part-time sheriff's deputy and school bus driver for former Cobleskill Central School. Lowell joined the NYS Liquor Authority as Senior Enforcement Investigator in 1966, retiring in 1991.

Survivors include his two daughters:  Susanne (Edgar) Morlang of Central Bridge and Donna Cosenza of Ghent; two grandsons:  Alan and Daniel Morlang; a great-granddaughter, Jessica (Brandin) Cooke and two great-great-granddaughters:  Rylee and Zoey Cooke.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2020 in the Social Room of Early Woodlands Apartments, 111 Woodland Drive, Cobleskill, NY.  Officiating will be Rev. David Houck of Christian Community Church of Faith.
