Louise Decker

Cobleskill- Louise M. Decker, 83, of St. Christopher Place, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta following a short illness.

Born June 27, 1929 in Warnerville, she was the daughter of Carlton and Dorothy (Stinover) Mickel. Louise was a life long area resident and graduated from the former Cobleskill Central School in 1946.

Her longtime career as secretary included working at the high school, then with Francis Smith, Attorney, and lastly with her husband, Frank A. Decker, Atty.

In her younger years, Louise was an active member of the Warnerville United Methodist Church where she also taught Sunday School. Following her marriage to Frank on November 9, 1957, she became an active member of the Cobleskill United Methodist Church.

She was also a member of the Women's Republican Committee and the former Young Adult Club in Cobleskill where she served as secretary and treasurer.

In her leisure time, Louise enjoyed bird watching and visiting the family sap house in Gilboa.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years: Frank A. Decker; her sister-in-law: Barbara Mickel of Scotia; and eight cousins: David Tillapaugh, Carl Tillapaugh, Stuart Tillapaugh all of Carlisle, Bruce Tillapaugh of Perry, NY, Inez Boggs of Mineral Springs, Alfred C. Magee, Sr., of Seward, Frank Larkin of Esperance, and Eleanor Osterhout of Orange City, FL.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at Cobleskill United Methodist Church, 107 Chapel St., Cobleskill, with Rev. Pam Mikel-Hayes officiating and Rev. Marvin Batcher assisting. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill on Friday from 5 to 7 PM. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cobleskill United Methodist Church, 107 Chapel St., Suite 1, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
