Middleburgh- Lorraine S. Werner, 70, of Clauverwie, formerly of Dix Hills, died Friday, October 9, 2015 in the comfort of her home.
Born April 18, 1945 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of John and Sue (Lucash) Kanyock.
Lorraine retired from Half Hollow Hills School District where she had been employed as an administrative assistant. She and her husband moved to Schoharie County in 2011.
Lorraine's greatest pleasure was found in caring for her family, especially the grandchildren. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and was passionate in her domestic abilities. In her younger years, Lorraine enjoyed playing the organ and accordion.
Upon moving to their retirement home, she expressed her love in being surrounded by the beautiful mountains. She also became a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
Lorraine was predeceased by her brother, John, last year.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Werner, whom she married May 6, 1967; her three sons: Christopher (Donna) Werner of Ronkonkoma, Gary (Nancy) Werner of Hicksville, and Peter (Erin) Werner of Braintree, MA; and three grandchildren: Nicholas, Elizabeth, and Jake Werner.
A period of visitation will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. On Wednesday, October 14, visistation will be held at Mangano Funeral Home, 1701 Deer Park Ave, Deer Park from 2-4 PM and 6-9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 am on Thursday, Oct., 15 at St. Matthews Catholic Church with burial following in St. Charles Cemetery.
