Richmondville- Lorraine Brower, 72, formerly of Richmondville, died Friday, November 5, 2021, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck following a brief illness.
Born October 31, 1949, in New Rochelle, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Dell Robbins) Care.
Lorraine lived in New Rochelle and Greensboro, NC before moving to Richmondville in 1986. Never one to sit idle, Lorraine served as the Village Clerk of Richmondville, worked at Wilson Travel Agency, NY Telephone Company, and Scholet Furniture as well as ran her own travel agency out of her own home. Lorraine worked with her daughter at her home daycare center where all the kids called her Nanny.
She will always be remembered for long “May I” card games, her infectious laugh, her always changing hair color and her awesome cooking. Lorraine had an obsession for camping with bears. She will be tremendously missed by everyone.
Lorraine is survived by her three children: Michael Bollettieri of Lake George, Denise Smith and Tim of Richmondville and Jennifer (Christian) Campbell of Cobleskill; seven grandchildren: Claire, Phillip and Elijah Bollettieri, Stephanie Palmer (Amelia), Cara Palmer and Joseph (Alyssa) Smith and Breanna (Justin) Pierce; five great-grandchildren: Madison Farnum, Amelia and Kennedy Pierce and Isla and Shay Smith; her siblings: Terry (Holley) Care of PA, Roseanne Care of NC, Cindy (Gary) Dreisbach of NC, Joey (Stephanie) Care and Tammy Bean, NC along with several nieces, nephews, great- nieces and great- nephews. She will also be forever missed by her longtime best friend and partner in crime, Anne Trombetti, and her family.
A memorial service will be held at 2PM on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held prior to the service, from 12PM to 2PM on Saturday. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2022.
