Fort Plain- Loretta B. Kretser, 92, of State Highway 10, Fort Plain, New York died, Monday, May 29, 2023, at her home, surrounded by family.
Born on March 21, 1931 she was the daughter of Raymond Suits and Elva Avery Suits. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifelong resident of the local area.
In addition to being a mother and homemaker, Loretta also worked for Knox Gelatin in Johnstown.
She enjoyed puzzles and loved her animals. In her younger years she enjoyed sunbathing by the pool, snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, and hosting family gatherings.
The love of her life, Arnold Kretser predeceased her in April 2009. She was also predeceased by her baby brother, Clifford Suits; sisters, Claudia Suits, Lovona Farquhar; grandson, Lonnie Duesler; and her beloved dog, Bella.
Cherishing her memory are her 5 children, Linda and Bob Praetorius of Chico, CA, Sandy Duesler and John Harrison of Stone Arabia, NY, Ron and Eileen Kretser of Fort Plain, NY, Dave and Bonnie Kretser of Fort Plain, NY, Rick Kretser and Sarah Hart of Fort Plain, NY; 2 sisters, Barbara Young of Little Falls, NY, Phyllis Lambert of St. Johnsville, NY; 10 grandchildren, Eric Praetorius, Chad Praetorius, Sherree’ Duesler, Trisha Horan, Nicole Barber, Sheena Kretser, Savannah Johnson, Heather Wrobel, David “DJ” Kretser, Crystal Berry; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at Ephratah Rural Cemetery at a later date.
