RICHMONDVILLE - Lorenzo F. Falzarano, 89, of Snyder Lane, died Monday, March 19, 2012 at his residence with his family at his side.
He was born on January 10, 1923 in Richmondville, NY and was the son of Thomas and Julia (Santoro) Falzarano.
A local resident for all of his life, Lorenzo graduated, and retired from the former Richmondville Central School as Director of Facilities, was a member of the Richmondville Volunteer Fire Dept., the American Legion Post, and VFW Post. He served his country with the United States Navy from 1941 until receiving an honorable discharge in1946 as Pharmacist's First Mate. He was decorated with 5 Bronze Stars and several medals.
He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma Mae Cain Falzarano, who died in 2008, and a brother Louie, who died in 2011, and a sister, Julia Middlekauff, who died in 2008
Lorenzo is survived by his children; Thomas (Martha) Falzarano of Buffalo, NY, Claude (Ellen) Falzarano of Albany, NY, Linda (James Collins) Karker of Cobleskill, Michael (Lori) Falzarano of Hamilton, New Zealand, and Dawn Falzarano of Richmondville; 6 Grandchildren, Justin and Sarah Karker, Joy, Carin, Gina Falzarano, and Spencer Lucier; 2 Great Grandchildren, Devon Welsh and Anthony Falzarano, one brother Thomas (Florence) Falzarano of Cobleskill, and several nieces and nephews.
A Service of Rememberance will be held at 2 pm, Saturday March 24, 2012 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY. Visitation will be Friday evening, March 23, 2012 from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Inurnment with Full Military Honors will be in Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to the Rolphie Fund, C/O Linda Karker, 665 Bush Road, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
