Cobleskill - Loie Nark, 72, died on July 28, 2007 at her residence. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Lillian Core. She attended P.S. 152 and worked in Brooklyn, where she met and married Fred Nark in 1954. After marrying, they moved to Cobleskill, where Fred and his brother Bob established Nark Bros., consisting of a 200-cow dairy farm and an independent, long-distance trucking business. In addition to being a talented artist and a skilled seamstress, she worked as a Nurse's Aide at Cobleskill Hospital for over 20 years and then, in the mid-1980s, changed careers to become a beautician. She purchased and operated Lois' His 'n Her Hair Salon in Cobleskill, which she maintained for 13 years. After selling her business, she returned to providing patient care at Cobleskill Hospital until her illness prevented her from working. In addition to being a devoted wife until Fred's passing in 2006, she was the best mother anyone could ask for. Loie will be remembered for her warmth, wit, and wisdom.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Marilyn Hervey and Lillian Petri; and her brother, Herbert Core.
She is survived by her four children: Keith, Dodi, Julie, and Barry (Ren?e); six grandchildren: Casey, Kariann, Luke, Elliot, Crystal, and Tyler; her sister-in-law Elly and her children Wayne, Barbara, and Jean; and several other nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6pm - 8pm on Tuesday, July 31 at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill. A service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 1 at 10 a.m., followed by the burial at the Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
