Breakabeen- Lois J. Kling, 83, of Clauverwie, died Saturday, September 8, 2012 at her residence.
Born November 29, 1928 in Breakabeen, she was the daughter of Howard D. and Ethel (Lloyd) Kling. She was a descendent of David Ellerson, a Revolutionary War Patriot.
Lois was a graduate of Middleburgh Central School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Social Work from Syracuse University.
From 1952 to 1957 she was a caseworker for Schoharie County Social Service Dept. and from 1960 to 1974 she was employed as a psychiatric social worker and lived in Syracuse where she worked at Upstate Medical Center and Onondaga County Mental Health Clinic. Lois was also an instructor at Upstate Medical Center. The following five years, she was an employee for Schoharie County Mental Health Clinic, and completed her career as a social worker for the former Community Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill.
For several years, Lois was a library assistant and volunteer coordinator at the Old Stone Fort Museum in Schoharie.
She was a member of PHI MU Sorority and Schoharie County Historical Society, as well as a charter member of the Town of Fulton Historical Society.
Survivors include several cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh with Rev. Jared Van Wagenen IV officiating. Burial will follow in Breakabeen Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM on Tues.
