RICHMONDVILLE- (Schoharie County)- Lillian R. Allen, 89, formerly of Franzen Road in Richmondville, died Thursday, June 24, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center, in Delmar, NY, where she has resided for the past few years.
Mrs. Allen was born September 6, 1920 in Yonkers, NY, and was the daughter of George and Agnes (Cooney) Linkletter.
She retired from Ossining High School where she was the manager of the school kitchen. She and her husband, Orville, moved to this area in 1978 from Westchester County.
Lillian was a communicant to St. Vincent de Paul Church of Cobleskill.
She had various hobbies that included knitting, counter-cross-stitch, and playing bingo . She was also an avid Yankees fan.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Orville, who died in 1991, a daughter, Linda Longo, who died in 2000, and her son, George Allen, who died in 2005.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law: Joan Allen of Richmondville; four granddaughters: Michele Davenport of Richmondville, Debbie Winnie of Sharon Springs, Jennifer Petersen of Cobleskill, and Amy Rudnyai of Torrington, CT; and five great-grandchildren: Alicia, Amanda, and Shelby Davenport, Dustin Winnie and Nicholas Petersen.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 28, 2010 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Robert Fricke officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery, Rock Hill, NY. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home on Monday, from 9 to 10 AM, prior to the service.
