Hyndsville- Leonard Stevens, 77, of State Route 10 died quietly on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at home with his wife, Theva, son, Reid, grandson, Chris and his wife, Kathy at his side.
Mr. Stevens was born May 7, 1930 in Skowhegan, Maine the son of Gladys Stevens. In his youth he was a cook's helper at a logging camp in Anson, Maine. He had a short career as a professional boxer until marrying Theva Fickett on Nov. 3, 1956 in Portland, ME.
Since 1971, Mr. Stevens was the proprietor of Crown Upholstering in Richmondville. He attended the Open Bible Baptist Church.
Mr. Stevens was predeceased by a son, Leonard J. Stevens and a daughter, Robin Nirschl.
Survivors include his wife, Theva Stevens; 4 daughters: Naida Stevens of Virginia Beach, VA, Lynn Joslin and Bonnie Althiser, both of Richmondville, and Lise Hoessle of West Coxsackie; a son, Reid Stevens of Middleburgh, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
