Summerfield, FL- Leonard A. Charletta, 98, passed from this life Sunday, May 29, 2016.

Born Nov. 15, 1917 in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Josephina Charletta.
Leonard was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He served in the Central Europe, Naples-Foggia, Rhineland, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Tunisia campaigns.

He was a 30 plus year lineman for AT&T of New York. Leon resided in Middleburgh and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lodge of Elks in Middleburgh.

He enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, crafting and painting.

He moved to Summerfield in 1988 from Middleburgh and was predeceased by his first wife, Claire (Labella) Charletta.

Leonard is survived by his second wife of 31 years, Marion S. (Peck) Charletta; his children: Linda Dalrymple of Miami, FL, Leonard M. (Diane) Charletta of Middleburgh, Joseph (Antoinette) Charletta of Riverside, CA; five step-children: Michelle, William, Mark, Brian, and Gregory; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Main St., Middleburgh with Rev. Matthew Wetsel as celebrant. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home of Middleburgh.
