Sharon Springs- Leon H. Van Aller, 90, of State Highway 10, Sharon Springs, New York died peacefully Tuesday, December 12, 2023, surrounded by his children.
Born on December 25, 1932 in Middleburgh, NY, he was the son of Fred Van Aller and Lura Almy Van Aller. He was a graduate of Middleburgh High School and spent most of his life in Schoharie County.
Leon was a Milk Tester for New York DHI for over 43 years, until his retirement.
He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean War.
Leon was a born again Christian and attended church most of his life.
Leon worked hard to provide for his family and enjoyed spending any free time he had with his wife, children, and later in life his grandchildren.
On October 5, 1957 Leon married, Betty Freed. She predeceased him on January 5, 2013. His parents, 2 sisters, and brother also predeceased him.
Leon is survived by his sons, Joe and Jan Van Aller of Sharon Springs, NY, Jeffery and Janice Van Aller of Cobleskill, NY; daughter, Jenny and George Kahl of California; grandchildren, Shailene, Samantha, Shawn, Annalise, Ephraim, Bella; 3 great-grandchildren, Beckett, Porter, and Remy.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 13, 2024 from 1PM to 3PM at Calvary Assembly of God, 960 Mineral Springs Road, Cobleskill, NY 12043. A Celebration of Life Ceremony led by Chaplain Captain George Kahl will begin at 3PM with light refreshments following in the church social hall. Burial will take place at a later date at Grovenors Corners Cemetery.
