LeForest Lawyer

Cobleskill- LeForest "Lee" Lawyer, 102, of Maple Road, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford, NY after a brief illness.

Lee was born June 25, 1909 in the Town of Carlisle, NY and was the son of Foster and Ethel (Shaffer) Lawyer.

He was employed by SUNY in Cobleskill as a stationary engineer for many years until his retirement. He was a member and usher of the First Baptist Church for numerous years, an avid bowler up until the age of 95, and enjoyed evening rides in the country with his bride.

He was predeceased by one brother and three sisters.

Lee is survived by his wife, Alfreda (Snyder) Lawyer and her family, Sandra Cook of Cobleskill, Victoria (Robert) Peek of Middleburgh, Lance (Susan) Haskin of Preston Hollow; two grandchildren: Morgan Haskin and Jeffrey Peek; and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm, on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY with Rev. Jared van Wagenen IV officiating. Inurnment will follow in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
