Schoharie- Lawrence “Larry” Watson II, 89, formerly of Schoharie, died Monday, November 1, 2021, at Cooperstown Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, of natural causes.

Born June 7, 1932, in Hammondsport, NY, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Bertha M. (Hiney) Watson.

Larry was a United States Army veteran, proudly serving his country from 1951 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1955. He then went on to Syracuse University where he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and master’s in business administration.

Larry and his family moved from central New York to Schoharie in 1980.

He retired from Lancaster Development in 1997 as chief financial officer. Larry served on the board of education for Schoharie Central School for over 15 years. He participated in his community and was an avid Syracuse University football and basketball fan.  A few years after retirement, he moved to South Carolina with his wife. Larry moved back to the area a few years ago due to poor health to be taken care of by his sons.

Surviving are his sons:  Craig (Lisa) Watson of Schoharie, Lawrence (Stacy) Watson III of Seward, and Karl (Alicia)Watson of Cobleskill; four grandchildren: Sophia Watson, Parker Watson, Brayden, and Donovan Watson; his wife, Marjorie Watson of Pawleys Island, SC. Larry was predeceased by his infant daughter, Faith, and daughter, Terri.

Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held on Friday, November 12, 2021, from 3PM to 5PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Inurnment will be held later in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport, NY.
