Lawrence Wood

Lawrence C. Wood, 97, of Union St., died peacefully, Mon. Jan. 21, 2008 at his home.

Mr. Wood was born in Schaghticoke, NY on Jan. 3, 1911, a son of the late James T. and Mary E. (Goodfellow) Wood. Mr. Wood was a veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1945-1946. He owned and operated Woody's Food Market in Schenectady, NY for almost 30 years and he was a past member of the East Glenville Volunteer Fire Dept. Mr. Wood was a Schoharie Valley resident for almost 30 years and a Communicant of St. Catherine's Church in Middleburgh where he took great pride in being an altar server and Eucharistic Minister. Mr. Wood enjoyed nature, especially camping, canoeing, bicycling and cross country skiing, well into his 80's. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Markle and a brother, Arthur Wood. . A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thurs. Jan. 24, 2008 at 11AM at St. Catherine's Church, Main St. Middleburgh. Father Thomas Holmes will be Celebrant. Cremation took place at the Vale Cemetery Crematorium, Schenectady, NY A spring interment of the cremains will be made in the Middleburgh Cemetery.
