Larry Chauncey Barry

Charlotteville- Larry Chauncey Barry, 81, of Baptist Church Rd., died Saturday, August 26, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Cobleskill on August 4, 1942, he was the son of Alonzo and Doris (Chambers) Barry. Following high school graduation, Barry continued his education and graduated from Cornell University.
He retired from NYS Department of Agriculture where he was a milk inspector for many years. Barry served the Charlotteville Fire Department for 14 years as a volunteer.
His passion was music and playing guitar so much that he was part of The Plow Boys band. He was also an avid weight lifter and often participated in competitions.
Larry was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Raymond Barry, a grandson, Raymond James (RJ) Barry, Jr, and 2 great-grandchildren Dominic and Caleb Barry
Forever holding him in their hearts are his wife, Helen (Foote) Barry, of 33 years, whom he married August 3, 1990; his children: Raymond (Anna) Barry, Sr., Melissa Barry, Larry (Lucyna) Barry, Ramona Barry, and David Barry; 10 grandchildren: Amanda (Nick) Scarcella, McKenzie (Ty Miller) Rutherford, Nathan (Melissa Marry) Rutherford, Danny (Ping Zheng) Blakey, Derek Blakey, Ryan Barry, Kyle (Sierra) Barry, Jessica Barry, Gabrielle Barry and David Barry; and 9 great-grandchildren: Jayden Scarcella, Madison Scarcella, Gavin Scarcella, Vivian Barry, Aleesha Barry, Alonzo Barry, Bowen Zheng, Angel Barry and Damien Barry.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service that will be held at 11AM on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill where a period of visitation will also be held from 9AM to 11 AM prior to the service. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Nash. A burial will follow in Charlotteville Cemetery where the Firemen's Last Call will take place. A reception will follow the cemetery at the Fire Department where all are welcome to join the family.
Memorial contributions in Larry's name may be offered to the Charlotteville Fire Dept., 643 Charlotte Valley Rd., Charlotteville, NY 12036.
