Sharon- Klaus Walther, 78, of Hanson Crossing Road, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY.
Mr. Walther was born May 2, 1937 in Meerane, Germany and was the son of Herbert and Emmi (Newkirch) Walther.
He owned and operated a dairy farm in Argusville for many years before becoming a machine operator at KSI in Cobleskill from where he retired. He also enjoyed riding horses, watching bicycle races, soccer, traveling to Europe and stamp collecting. His most enjoyment came from his love to his grandchildren.
Klaus is survived by his wife, Helen (Schnell) Walther, of Sharon Springs, his daughter, Laura Walther Tripp of Canajoharie, his son, Eric Walther of Warnerville, a sister, Monica Blaetz of Ames, a brother, Frohwald "Fred" Walther of Sharon Springs, and his grandsons, Jason and Joshua Walther, both of Warnerville.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, July 30, 2015, at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY, with Rev. Larry DiNovo of the Berean Baptist Church in Guilderland, NY officiating. A period of visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in Slate Hill Cemetery.
