Summit- Kenneth R. Suchocki, 64, of Summit, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Samuel Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany.

Born March 6, 1949 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of Geraldine (Hopkins) Suchocki and the late Victor Suchocki.

Ken was a 1967 graduate of the former Richmondville Central School, where he was a member of the 1967 Section II Championship Basketball Team and participated in cross-country.

Following high school, Ken joined the United States Air Force, serving his country from 1967 until receiving an honorable discharge in 1971. He was a member of the American Legion Post 200 in Belfair, WA.

He was a former member of the Summit Volunteer Fire Department and for the past several years lived in Washington. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and the mountains.

He was a self-employed house painter most of his adult life.

His father and two brothers predeceased Ken: Victor, who died in 1976, and Fletcher, who died in 2008.

Survivors include his son: Shannon Scott Suchocki of Everett, WA; his mother: Geraldine Suchocki of Sweetwater, TN; four sisters: Anita Sterns of Anchorage, AK, Geraldine Griesel of Loveland, CO, Debra Scheer of Carmichael, CA, and Karen Maloney of Sweetwater, TN; three brothers: Ray Suchocki of Duanesburg, Michael Suchocki of Summit, and Kurt Suchocki of Schenectady; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors will take place in Summit Cemetery in the spring. There will be no calling hours.
