Julie I. Steinmuller

June 25, 1953 — March 26, 2022

Warnerville- Julie I. Steinmuller, 68, of Hite Road, died Saturday, March 26, 2022, at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home following a nearly two-year battle with cancer.

Born June 25, 1953, in Cobleskill, she was the daughter of the late Harold A. and Helen (Stalker) Lockwood.

Julie was a lifelong area resident, graduating from the former Cobleskill Central School and SUNY Cobleskill where she received her associate degree. Growing up on a dairy farm instilled a great love of animals; it was always her dream to own a few dairy cows, but she settled for cats and woodchucks (well, there was Millie the freemartin...) instead. Julie delighted in the outdoors, unearthing artifacts like an amateur archaeologist, planting, and caring for her beautiful flower gardens.

Cherishing their memories of Julie are her husband, Richard B. Steinmuller, whom she married on December 5, 1982; her children: Jason Steinmuller of Glens Falls, Corinne Steinmuller of Rotterdam; stepchildren: Laura Steinmuller (Dave) Layton of S. Glens Falls and Brian (Kim) Steinmuller of Stillwater; her sister, Suzanne Lockwood of Warnerville, her step mother Nancy Lockwood of Whitefield, NH, and six grandchildren: Lilah Steinmuller, Eva Steinmuller, Gemma Steinmuller, Trevor Layton and Wesley and Wyatt Layton.

A service for a celebration of Julie's life will be held at 11AM on Friday, April 1, 2022, at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Sandy Shear as celebrant. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 6 to 8PM on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley, Inc., PO Box 40, Howes Cave, 12092 or Marathon For a Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, NY 12187.
