Howes Cave- Julie Ann Richter, 39, of Caverns Road, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006 at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill.
Julie was born May 21, 1967 in Forestville, NY, the daughter of Eugene and Carolyn (Crowell) Richter.
She was a 1985 graduate of Forestville High School, and in 1989 received her bachelor of science degree from Cornell University. In 1994, Julie graduated with her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Cornell University.
Since 2000, she and her husband, David Rummel have been operating the Howes Cave Animal Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, David Rummel, whom she married June 18, 1994; her son, Paul Rummel of Howes Cave; her parents: Eugene and Carolyn (Crowell) Richter of Forestville, NY; 3 sisters: Laurie Becker of Stockton, NY, Amy Mustian of Warrenton, NC, and Carrie Richter of Pawtucket, RI; her paternal grandmother, Louise Richter of Dunkirk, NY; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, June 25, 2006 at St. Vincent de Paul Church 138 Washington Ave. Cobleskill. Friends may call at the church from noon to 1:00 PM, prior to the service and are invited to bring their "Julie pictures" to share.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Northeastern New York Affiliate P.O. Box 13535 Albany, NY 12212.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm St. Cobleskill and Palmer & Shaylor, Inc. Funeral Home 134 River St. Middleburgh.
