Julia Soto
Cobleskill- Julia J. Soto, 87, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Dorloo and Cobleskill, surrounded by her family, went peacefully to be with the Lord on February 9, 2012.
Julia was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico on May 8, 1924 to Luisa and Emiliano Carrero. In 1946 she met and married Carlos Soto of Jayuga, Puerto Rico. He predeceased her in March of 1970.
Julia was an avid bingo player, who embraced life with her generous heart and contagious smile.
She was the mother of Iris (Daniel) Briggs of Syracuse, Miriam (Paul) Kleinberger of Albany, Eduardo Soto of Zaragoza, Spain, Juana (Stephen) Foos of Ocala, FL, Olga Soto and Leticia Nieves of Newburgh, Carlos Soto, Jr. of Columbus, GA, and "Mom" to Armina and Richard Vasquez of NYC. Julia was a devoted grandmother and loving aunt.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM. Inurnment will follow in St. Micheal's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Per the family's request, anyone wishing, may make a memorial contribution to a charity of one's choice in memory of Julia.
