Joyce Virgina Bever, 87, of Cobleskill, New York, died March 25, 2025.
Born on May 13, 1937, in Richmondville, NY, she was the daughter of Wendell VanSteenburg and Nellie Whitbeck.
Joyce has been a resident of Union Street for 50 years and lived on Division St. for 19 years. She graduated from Cobleskill High School.
Joyce was a cook for SUNY Cobleskill for over 30 years. She loved her job and had great pride in serving her students with a cook to order style. Before working for the college, Joyce worked with her mother and brother at PeeWees Diner for 8 years. Also, she worked at Agustan Hotel as a dishwasher for 12 years.
Joyce loved car racing, wrestling, playing games as well as game shows.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband James J. Bever, her parents, Wendell VanSteenburg and Nellie Whitbeck; her youngest daughter, Kimberly Jo Bever; her brothers, Alfred "Red" VanSteenberg and Ronald Whitbeck.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Vicki Harrington and Tammy Makarowski; brother, William VanSteenburg, Sr.; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 5th, at 10:00 a.m., at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery, 151 Quarry St., Cobleskill, NY.
