Middleburgh, NY : Mrs. Josephine E. Spencer, 84, of Clauverwie, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at her home, following a long illness.
Josephine was born on November 18, 1925 in North Blenheim, NY, a daughter of the late Edna M. (Shelmandine) and Otis E. Lawyer.
She graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1942 and was a homemaker. Josephine enjoyed gardening, bicycling, antiquing, garage sales, bird watching and feeding chipmunks.
Josephine is survived by her husband, James M. Spencer, of Middleburgh, NY, whom she married on December 3, 1944, her daughter: Cathleen Klupka of Cobleskill, NY; granddaughter: Christine Howe of Tacoma Park, MD.; great-grandson: Michael Howe of Tacoma Park, MD.; sisters: Virginia E. (Emmett) Mahoney of Middleburgh, NY, Marian J. Del Giorno of Schoharie, NY, Helene J. Curran and Janice C. Alessi, both of Cobleskill, NY; brother: Otis R. (Shirley) Lawyer of Schoharie, NY and many nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be held at 10a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 in the Breakabeen Cemetery, Breakabeen NY with Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church officiating. There will be no visitation. Cremation took place at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
