Summit- Josephine J. Haslun, 86, of Wharton Hollow Rd., died Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT.
Born October 19, 1929 in North Blenheim, she was the daughter of Arthur G. and Grace (Clum) Mattice.
Josie was an inspector at the former Zain Glove Co. in Richmondville and then at Ace Glove Co. where she also was a sewing machine operator. Later she was an assembler for Audiosears in Stamford, NY.
A farmer's wife, she was happiest when she was cooking, baking, and entertaining for family and friends.
Her husband, Einar Haslun, who died in 1997, and her son, Stephen Haslun, who died in 2013, predeceased her.
Survivors include her daughter: Jeanette (Larry) Becker of Southbury, CT; six grandchildren: Michael (Christina) Becker of Summit, Kevin (Alissa) Becker of Bethlehem, CT, Darrell (Lindsay) Becker of Torington, CT, Sarah (Derek) Sigler of Spencertown, NY, Melissa (Brian) Coleman of Bluffton, SC, and Stephanie Haslun (Justin Zigan) of Hillsdale, NY; nine great-grandchildren: Lindsay, Jarred, and Dylan Becker of Summit, Riley and Reese Becker of Bethlehem, CT, Madison and Lauren Becker of Torington, CT, Ashley Haslun of Spencertown, and Noah Coleman of Bluffton, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Rev. Waylen Bray of Stamford Baptist Church officiating. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home from 6PM to 8 PM on Wednesday. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery.
