Seward- Joseph M. Tokash, 57, of Park Ave., died Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born October 2, 1957, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Cain) Tokash.
For most of his life, Joe resided in the New York City area until just last year when he and his wife relocated to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He was a great provider for his family, working twenty-five years at Hunts Point Market in the Bronx and then was in sales and the warehouse for L.B.D. Produce.
In his younger years, Joe enjoyed hunting, and then found pleasure in fishing, watching the food network and the Yankees games
Survivors include his wife: Catherine (Leacy) Tokash; four children: Joseph Tokash of Carmel, NY, Jennifer Tokash and husband, Mike Vasiliauskas of Seward, Lauren Tokash and husband, Dan Kandris of Hamlin, NY, Lacey Tokash-Martin and life partner, Heidi Tokash-Martin both of Boston; three grandchildren: Zoey Tokash, Hazel and Drake Vasiliauskas; and four siblings: Sandie (Mike) Sweatt of Chester, NY, Susan (Joe) Mulvey of Florida, Donna (Matt) Fenton of Canada, and Stephen Tokash of New York City.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill with Robert Stark as celebrant. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held prior to the service on Friday from 1 to 3 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
