Joseph Hiller

Saratoga Springs, NY: Joseph W. Hiller, 97, of Saratoga Springs, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Wesley Health Center.

Joseph was born in Amsterdam, N.Y. on April 6, 1913 to the late Barbara and Franklin F. Hiller.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and saw active duty in France, Germany and the Philippines. Joseph worked as a manager for the Freihofer Baking Company in Albany and Saratoga Springs, NY before retiring.

Joseph enjoyed music, and played the banjo and the guitar. He was a member of the band the Sodbusters, who played for the W.G.Y. radio station.

He also loved his family, dogs, gardening, and feeding chipmunks.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Alice K. Hiller.

He is survived by his nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Graveside service will be held at 10:00am, Monday, August 23, 2010 in the new section of the Middleburgh Cemetery, Cotton Hill Rd., Middleburgh, NY. Reverend Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church will officiate. There will be no visitation.
