Charleston Four Corners (Montgomery County)- Joseph J. Clancy, 62, of Green Road South, died suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, August 25, 2009.

Born April 25, 1947 in Queens, NY, he was the son of James J. and Sophie (Paliwoda) Clancy.

He was a graduate of Sharon Springs Central School and later moved to Charleston Four Corners.

Joseph retired in 2006 from Penske Leasing of Fultonville where he was a mechanic. He was a former member of the Charleston Volunteer Fire Department.

Joseph found enjoyment in working on his antique truck and other cars, along with attending antique car shows. He was also an avid NASCAR fan.

Visiting with his close friends was always a special time for him.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara (Gordon) Clancy, whom he married May 5, 1973; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Charles and Eleanor Burke of Glen, Mrs. Joyce Gordon of Schenectady, Robert and Florence Countryman of Sprakers, Charles and Janet Newkirk of Sprakers, Roger and Linda Gordon of Johnstown, Frank and Lois Morey of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 28, 2009 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Officiating will be Sister Connie James, SND, of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. A period of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, Aug., 27 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Carlisle Rural Cemetery.
