Cobleskill - Joseph Brown, 77, of Mallard Lane, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
Born November 20, 1931, in Cobleskill, Joseph was the son of Barney and Lillian (Sutton) Brown.
He was a lifelong area resident, retiring in 1994 from the former Cobleskill Central School District where he was employed as a custodian.

Joseph was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict when he was decorated with the Bronze Star and United Nations Service Medal. He reenlisted for another year, from 1954 to1955, and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Joseph was a member of the VFW Post #5088 in Cobleskill.

He was also a member of the Fraternal Organization of Eagles Aeries of Cobleskill #2695.

Joseph enjoyed spending his spare time outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Evalena (Scott) Brown, whom he married August 18, 1956; two sons: Steven G. Brown of Cobleskill, and Keith M. Brown of Schenevus; two sisters: Angela Gregory and Lucy All, both of Cobleskill; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill. Officiating will be Rev. Kenneth Sisson of the First Baptist Church in Cobleskill. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM, prior to the service. Burial with full military honors will be follow at Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
