Joseph Annis,

Esperance- Joseph Sidney Annis, Sr. 51, of State Route 30A, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.

Born May 8, 1958, in Schenectady, he was a son of Emma Jean (Wright) Annis and the late James Henry Annis, Jr. who died in 2003.

Joe was educated at Duanesburg Central School and was employed as a plant manager at King Road Material in Schenectady for 18 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, car racing, and snowmobiling.

Survivors include his two sons: Joseph Sidney Annis, Jr. of Schenectady and Justin Richard Annis of Burtonsville; three grandchildren: Alexis Rose Annis, Meghan Ann Annis, and Jake Richard Annis; his mother Emma Jean Annis of Howes Cave; a sister, Janet Marie Palmer of Duanesburg; three brothers: James Henry (Cathie) Annis III of Howes Cave, Jeffery Howard Annis of Peru, John Richard (Brenda) Annis of Howes Cave; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, with Rev. Jared Van Wagenen IV officiating. Friends are also invited to a period of visitation from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, at the funeral home, prior to the service. Cremation will follow at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
