Howes Cave- John J. White, 75, of Robinson Road, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at his residence with his loving family at his side.
Born April 6, 1937 in County Cork, Ireland, he was the son of John and Mary (Dullea) White. In 1958 John immigrated to New York City from Ireland and then moved to Howes Cave in 1982.
He was a self employed farmer, first in the dairy industry and most recently beef. While living in NY City, John was a member of the Brooklyn Shamrocks.
He was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cobleskill.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy (McCarthy) White, whom he married December 2, 1972; four children: John White of Arizona, Maureen (John) Clements of Wynantskill, James (Karyn Dinand) White of East Greenbush, and Theresa (John) Nolan of Howes Cave; two granddaughters: Maeve Clements and Kathleen White; four siblings: Richard White, Teresa White, Nora Ann Spear all of Ireland, and Mary Kearns of NY City; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 5 to 8 PM on Friday at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. Spring interment will be in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.
