Middleburgh: John Weimer, 84, of Weimorse Lane, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
John was born on October 6, 1928 in Plainfield, NJ, to the late Louise (Bauer) and Ludwig Weimer.
He graduated from Malvern High School before serving in the United States Navy from 1952-1953.
John was a Millwright by trade, working at the former Masick Limestone Quarry, followed by fourteen years at Penn Dixie in Howes Cave and finally at Owens Corning in Feura Bush from 1976-1989.
John was a devoted family man who enjoyed bowling, gardening, tinkering in his garage, cooking and wintering in Wildwood, FL.
He is survived by his beloved wife Elinor R. (Vetter) Weimer, whom he married on January 13, 1952 and his daughters: Joanne (Larry Mazza) Weimer of Cobleskill; Pat (Joe) Sprague of Warnerville; Margaret (Doug) Hildreth of East Cobleskill; son: John (Ethel) Weimer of Middleburgh; grandchildren: Jessica (Sean) Organ, Nicole Weimer, Julia (Reuben) Phillips, Luke (Phoebe Moulthrop) Mazza, Amber Sprague, Aleasha Weimer; great-grandchildren: Shane and Keira Organ; several cousins in Germany.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, NY. Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Middleburgh Cemetery with military honors. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
