John Tinkler

John Tinkler

Middleburgh-John (better known as Jack) Tinkler of the town of Middleburgh, passed away at home on April 9, 2014 to be at peace after enduring cancer.

Jack was born in Staten Island to John (Jack) and Emily (Bruga) Tinkler. Having graduated Middleburgh Central School, Jack enlisted in the US Marine Corps serving during the Korean War in Japan and Lebanon conflict in the Mediterranean area. Jack was honorably discharged in 1957 as a proud Marine always.

Then as a teamster, Jack was employed by Chemical Leaman Tanklines of Howes Cave, Pacific Molasses, Albany, and Albany Asphalt, Albany.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years: Janet (Wood) Tinkler; son: Jesse R. (Colleen) Tinkler; daughters: Kathy (Dave) Potter, and Tammy (James) Smith all of Middleburgh; his grandchildren: Michael R. (Summer) Tinkler, Jesse L (Jennifer) Tinkler, Amanda R. Tinkler, Sarah M. Houck, Benjamin D. Houck, James M. Smith III, Mark J. Smith; and three great-grandchildren: Natanael Gonzalez, Bryce Giovannetti and Jack Martin Tinkler.

His family was his pride and joy. Their accomplishments and living with meaning in life were to be admired.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh. Family and friends are also invited to a period of visitation to be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Carol Coltrain of the Huntersland United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow the service at Middleburgh Cemetery.
