John Smith

Richmondville- John E. Smith, 64, of Main Street, died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at Albany Medical Center following a long illness.
Mr. Smith was born April 14, 1942 in Diviner, MO, the son of William and Cora (King) Smith.
He had lived in the area since the late 1970's and was employed as a laborer for the former Sossei Moving and Storage located in Cobleskill. Mr. Smith enjoyed spending his spare time as a car mechanic, hunting and fishing.
He was predeceased by his companion, Clara Mae Hagadorn, who died in 1997, his sister, Alma Cline, and 5 brothers, William, Harold, Charlie, Marvin, and Deanie Smith.
He is survived by a sister, Beulah Caldwell of Sterling, IL; and 4 step-children, Brenda Greene, Richard Hagadorn, Matthew Hagadorn, all of Richmondville and Douglas Hagadorn of Dorloo; and 4 step-grandchildren: Ryan and Courtney Greene,
John Douglas and Olivia Hagadorn.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, March 16 at the Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home 171 Elm Street Cobleskill. A private graveside service will be held at Seward Valley Cemetery at a later date.
