Cobleskill- John L. Rose III, 73, of School Hill Road, died Tuesday, April 11, 2023 after being stricken suddenly.
Born December 13, 1949, in Davy, West Virginia, he was the son of the late John L. Rose II and Dora (Horton) Rose, who survives him.
John enjoyed camping with his family, as well as hiking, kayaking and bicycling.
He was a former president of the Rotary Club of Cobleskill and former president of the Habitat for Humanity for Schoharie County. John was also a former chair of the Cobleskill Creek Trail.
He retired from NYS Construction Fund where he worked for many years as project manager. He was also project manager for the Agriculture Department at SUNY Cobleskill for several years.
John was predeceased by his father, a grandson, Emerson Rose, and two sisters: Sandra Kay Rose and Doreen Martini.
Cherishing their memories of John are his wife, Joan (Moccio) Rose whom he married January 14, 1973; two sons: John L. (Julie) Rose IV of Cobleskill and Jason (Barbara) Rose of Delmar; six grandchildren: Jack, Sean, Abigail, Clark, Lucy and Magdalene; his brother, David Rose of Virginia; his mother, Dora Rose and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 4PM to 6PM at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul Church or St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 Main St., Worcester, NY 12197.
