Reston, VA-John Michael Hanevy died Wednesday, January, 5, 2022, at his home in Reston, Virginia. He is survived by his sisters, Dorine Ann Hanevy of Oswego, New York, and Cynthia June Hanevy of Willard, Missouri. He is also survived by his niece, Jessica Ann Barnard, of Livermore, California, and his nephews, James Robert Barnard and Drew Michael Barnard, of Grinnell, Iowa, and several great-nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents, John Joseph and June Violet (Huggins) Hanevy.
John was born February 4, 1961, in Cobleskill, New York. He graduated from Richmondville Central School and earned a Bachelor's Degree at the New York Institute of Technology. He started his electronics career at Narda Microwave East in 1994. He also worked at Astron Wireless. Most recently, he had been employed at DRT/Boeing since June 2009.
In addition to caring deeply for his family and enjoying his young nieces and nephews, John was a caring friend to many. He cherished friendships from his high school days. He enjoyed roller blading and biking the trails and had many dear friends with whom he shared these activities.
Inurnment will be in the Richmondville Rural Cemetery at 10 AM on Saturday, September 10, 2022.
Memorial contributions may be made to Father Flanagans Boys Town, a charity that John supported.
