John Kammerer

Summit- John "Jack" L. Kammerer, 62, formerly of Bear Gulch Road in Summit, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Albany County Nursing Home where he had been a resident for the past three years.

Born June 11, 1954 in Hudson, NJ, he was the son of late Leonard and Rosemary (Stewart) Kammerer.

Jack was raised in New Jersey and moved to the Summit area over twenty-five years ago. He was a mechanic at the former Rua & Sons, Inc. in Cobleskill. Most importantly, he was a family man, which included taking his son to work on Saturdays to teach him mechanics, such as rotating tires. He entertained amazing celebrations for his family, like celebrating his daughter's birthday on July 4th.

Jack was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting with his dear friend. Brian Carol, fishing, and snowmobiling.

Survivors include his children: Jessica Kammerer of Lackawana and her daughter, Amina and Jose Kammerer of Delanson; and their mother, Myrna, of Florida.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Summit Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill, NY 12043.
