Cobleskill- John E. Janakis, 82, of Iroquois Drive, died Saturday, June 27, 2020 in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side.
Born March 20, 1938 in Kingston, NY, he was the son of John and Libby (Sarkies) Janakis.
For forty years John was an Artificial Inseminator Technician for Genex (formerly Eastern A.I.) of Ithaca. In his free time John and his wife took many motorcycle trips and in his younger years he enjoyed fishing.
John was of the catholic faith and while living in Summit attended St. Anna’s Catholic Church.
Cherishing many years of memories are his wife, Barbara (Haggerty) Janakis, whom he married Nov. 1, 1958; two sons and their families: John E. (Valerie G.) Janakis, Jr. of Richmondville and their children, John E. Janakis and Alexandria Janakis, and Darren M. (Becky) Janakis of South Berwick, ME, and step-sons: Joshua, Elliott, and Jacob; his sister, Agnes Stage of Davie, FL and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by two sisters: Mary Janakis Quinn and Irene Janakis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2PM on Friday, July 3, 2020 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill with Rev. Joseph Arockiasamy as celebrant. Family and friends are also invited to the church for a period of visitation to be held prior to Mass, from 1 PM until 2PM on Friday.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm Street, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
